The European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Awards

 

Join us online on 29 April for the opening event of this year’s European Diversity Month.
This year’s theme is ‘Building bridges’.
We’ll be exploring how organisations from different sectors can work together to build inclusive workplaces and spaces
as well as how to create effective inclusion and diversity policies that tackle several areas at once (age, racial origin, gender, etc.).

As we move towards a more inclusive society, we need to start looking at diversity and inclusion more holistically and stop compartmentalising each of the issues. As we call out the need to stand for equality, we all need to acknowledge the importance of intersectionality and work towards understanding overlaps in our identities.

Background information

 

The European Diversity Month raises awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion in our workplaces and in  society across the EU. It’s part of the  European Commission’s long-lasting commitment to fight discrimination  and promote diverse and inclusive workplaces. The Month is organised by the European Commission and the EU Platform of Diversity Charters together with its members.

The 2022 edition focuses on building bridges between organisations, employees, NGOs and other institutions as well as on the need to apply more intersectional approach to diversity policies.

The high-level opening event brings together:

  • Policy-makers
  • Business leaders
  • CEOs of the Diversity Charter signatories
  • NGOs
  • And other organisations.

 Through debate and discussion participants will be able to share personal experiences, success stories and reflect on how to improve diversity and inclusion with the benefit of input from many different perspectives (employees, employers, NGOs, policy-makers, etc.)
